Account: your email and name, handled by Clerk. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. Guest use is tied to a random device ID stored on your phone.
Products: the recipes, photos, descriptions and preferences you enter, the results we generate from them, your AI edit conversations and any quote requests, including the contact details you put in a quote.
Community: the nickname, posts, comments, photos and poll votes you add in the community, and any of your products you attach to a post. If you report or block a post, comment or user, we receive the reason, any note you add and the content concerned. Your block list itself stays on your phone.
Purchases: subscription and purchase status from the App Store or Google Play, via RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
Usage and diagnostics: which screens you use and which features you tap, with an approximate location (city or region) derived from your IP address for analytics (PostHog), crash reports (Sentry), and a push token if you allow notifications (OneSignal).
To make and store your products, to run AI generation (your inputs are sent to model providers through OpenRouter and are not used to train their models under our agreement), to send quote requests to manufacturing partners you asked for, to bill your plan and enforce its limits, to notify you about results and quotes, to run the community and review reports, and to fix bugs and improve the app.
To create a product simulation, RecipeCat sends what you enter for that product (recipe text, the photos you add, your product preferences and your AI edit requests) to third-party AI model providers through OpenRouter, a routing service. The providers are Anthropic (Claude models, which read your recipe and photos, write the formula, cost and pricing, and apply your edits), Google (Gemini image models, which create product photos from the product description) and Perplexity (Sonar models, which look up comparable products on the market using the product name and main ingredients).
Anthropic’s Claude models also translate text when it is needed: the text of a quote request you send, if it mixes languages, and the name and description of a product you attach to a community post written in another language.
The app asks for your permission before it first sends anything to these providers. If you do not agree, nothing is sent. You can withdraw it at any time in Account > AI data sharing; the app will then ask again before sending anything.
These requests do not include your name, email address or account ID. Generation cannot run without this processing, so do not put anything in a recipe or photo that you do not want sent to these providers.
Service providers that process data for us: Cloudflare (hosting, storage and operator email), Clerk (accounts), RevenueCat (purchases), OpenRouter and the AI model providers above: Anthropic, Google and Perplexity (generation), OneSignal (push), Sentry (crashes), PostHog (analytics), Telegram (operator alerts). Manufacturing partners receive a quote request only when you submit one. Share pages you create are visible to anyone with the link. We do not sell personal data.
The service providers and AI model providers above, including Telegram (used only to deliver alerts to our own operators), are bound by contract or by their published terms to use the data we share with them only to provide their services to RecipeCat, and to protect it with the same or equal protection as described in this policy.
Manufacturing partners are independent businesses, not service providers that process data for us. When you submit a quote request, we share it with partners only so they can prepare your quote and handle any order, sample or contract you then arrange with them. Such an order, sample or contract is between you and the partner, as the Terms of Service say.
Community: posts, comments, photos, nicknames and attached products are shown to everyone who uses the app, including guests. Poll results show vote counts only, not who voted for what. Do not post anything you want to keep private.
Operator alerts: when you report or block community content, we send our operators the reason and your note, the reported post or comment (its title and up to 300 characters of text), its author’s nickname and user ID, and your user ID (or the start of your guest device ID). When you request a factory quote or pick an offer, we send them the product name, the quantity or chosen factory, and the contact name and email in the request. These alerts are delivered through Telegram (messaging) and Cloudflare (email) to our operators’ Telegram chat and mailboxes.
Guest products can be opened for 24 hours after creation unless you sign up; after that they are no longer available in the app and are erased from our servers within 30 days. Account data is kept while your account exists.
Deleting your account from the Account tab deletes your login, profile, nickname, plan, saved recipes, notifications, votes and usage history right away. Your products and your community posts and comments, with their photos, are taken off the app right away and the copies left on our servers are erased within 30 days. Factory quote requests you sent are kept as business records with your name, phone number and email removed. Purchase records are kept as long as the law requires.
Operator alerts about reports and quotes stay in our operators’ Telegram chat and mailboxes after the content or your account is deleted. They are not removed automatically; email us and we will delete them.
You can access, export, correct or delete your data from the app, or by contacting us. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as GDPR, the CCPA or the Korean Personal Information Protection Act; we honor them on request.
RecipeCat is not directed to children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We will post changes here and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
